February 19-24, 2007 -American Association of Forensic
Sciences Conference,
San Antonio, Texas
The people at Sorenson Forensics can do
DNA samples in record time and are very patient explaining the process to
authors.
This company produces artificial bones for training and
study. They also make the realistic looking skeletons seen on CSI, including any gunshot wounds, abrasions, breaks, deformities or lacerations called
for by the script.
This is where CSI people congregate to talk about the
latest in forensics. In addtion to papers about new developments, there were
papers and slideshows about the forensics of famous cases such as the Beltway
Sniper and even a 19th century serial killer in Austin Texas who fled to London
and may have become Jack the
Ripper. I was there to research my next book, which is about a
forensics pioneer and the development of crime detection in the 20th
century.
The conference was attended by over 2,000 forensics people
from all over the world, including people involved in
famous cases you see in the news.
Blood detection and typing can be done
various ways. This company has a way of filtering out false positives.
